Creating PURLs

Instead of publishing the video to send by email, you can create a set of PURLs (personalized URLs), one PURL per recipient.

If you want to specify the URL to be used, you can do this using Embed Video. This option allows you to specify which URL should be used when generating PURLs.

To create the PURLs, select Save & Generate PURLs in the Get My Video dropdown. The following screen is displayed:

In the dropdown, select one of the options. Possible options are as follows:

  • Embedded Video. Allows you to select a URL to an externally hosted page that contains the embedded code with the video iframe. See Embed Video for more details.
  • Communicate Hosted Video. Specifies that the video for which PURLs are being created is hosted by Communicate.
  • Custom Domain. Allows you to specify a link to a Branded PURL domain.

If Communicate Hosted Video is the only available option, the Export Video CSV screen looks like this:

For Communicate Hosted Video and Custom Domain, the Landing page can be enabled or disabled using the switch Use Custom Landing Page. See Landing Page for further information.

You need to confirm this operation, because once you create the CSV file, the video communication becomes live.

Once confirmed, the CSV file with the PURLs is created and a link to it appears at the bottom of the screen. You can open the file and save it. This CSV file has one row for each recipient in your selected Contacts List (see Contacts tab) and displays the PURL for each user.

Note: Only Data Sources with a flat data structure can be used for video communications. See Using Data Sources for Video communications for further information.
